SUMMER BASEBALL INFORMATION
Ages: 13-15 year olds will play on the Jr. Babe Ruth team. 13 year olds may play in the Greenville Prep League (13 year old only league). However, we usually need them for number purposes on the Jr. Babe Ruth team in order to have a complete roster. Please check with Coach Ryan Meadows about your 13 year old child and the possibility of playing on our Jr. Babe Team before signing up for Greenville Prep League.
Dates: The games will start around the first week in May and run through the last week of June. The league runs only about two weeks after the last day of school! (This means that very little of the players’ summer vacation is being sacrificed!)
Games: There are two or three games per week. We have our own “Bethel” team in the Greenville Babe Ruth League. We will play half our games at North Pitt, and half at Guy Smith Stadium in Greenville/Ayden-Grifton High School/Farmville Central High School/AG Cox Middle School. Game times are usually at 5:00 or 7:30 during the weekdays, and the times vary on the weekends. The season ends with a league tournament that is over by the last week of June.
Practice: Practice times will be up to the coach (tba).
Fees/Forms: As of 2020, our PCN registration fee is ONLY $25.00! We are reducing our fees by using the profit that we made this year off of our “Downeast Baseball Camps”, held at North Pitt High School. Our fee is now $100.00 cheaper than Greenville and Conley’s fee ($125.00). This fee includes the player’s hat and jersey. Each player is in charge of wearing their own grey pants. This is less than $2.00 per game! There is no reason not to play for PCN this summer! Please talk to Coach Meadows before you decide to not play because of money. We will find a way for you to play!
Benefits of Playing: This Jr. Babe Ruth team is a direct affiliate with the North Pitt High School Baseball Program. It will have the complete guidance of Coach Ryan Meadows and his high school staff. This is our way of creating a great feeder system, as well as to help identify and develop players that will be in our high school baseball program. Not to mention….this league is extremely fun! You will play against the best competition from the area and be amazed at what you can do. Also, if you are a dedicated player, and want to be good, you must play baseball more than just the spring season. If you do not play again until next school year, the game will pass you by, and you will never reach your full potential. Baseball is a game that you learn something every time you play. You need the innings in the summer time to help develop you into the player that you want to be. Remember, every day that you are not working or playing, someone else is. Don’t let anyone outwork you! OUR PCN team, EASY MUFFLER, has a Championship History in this League! Join the fun and tradition this summer!
All-Star Teams: All players are eligible for one of two All-Star teams. There is a 14 year old and a 15-year-old All-Star. All coaches in the league will vote on All-Star selections at the end of the regular season based on the players’ performance. Any 13 year old player is eligible for the 14 year old All-Star team if they are deserving. There are TWO divisions for All-Starts. All Greenville players form one division, while the North Pitt and Conley players are combined to form the other division, thus creating FOUR different All-Star teams (2 of each age group). We have had great success for North Pitt players on the All-Star teams. We have had players from North Pitt play for teams over the past several years that advanced to the Southeast Regionals in Alabama, as well as the World Series in New York. It is truly a great experience.
Attendance Areas: Attendance areas in this Jr. Babe Ruth League is similar to High School attendance areas for eligibility. If a player lives in the North Pitt attendance area, or plans on attending North Pitt by way of “Open Enrollment”, they MUST play for the PCN “Easy Muffler” Jr. Babe Ruth team. Likewise, nobody outside of the North Pitt attendance area may play on our team.
COASTAL PLAINS ELITE LEAGUE--- Our NORTH PITT/PCN upperclassmen will compete in the Coastal Plains Elite Summer League. Our games will be played at North Pitt or surrounding fields of teams in Pitt, Beaufort, Greene, Nash, Martin, Edgecombe County. THIS IS A VERY HIGH LEVEL OF BASEBALL. YOU MUST BE INVITED BY COACH MEADOWS TO PLAY ON THIS TEAM. This league will begin just after high school graduation, and run through around the last week of July. This is a very high level of baseball, equivalent to a TOUGH VARSITY schedule. This team will be catered towards building the NPHS varsity team for the upcoming year. Some players will be asked to play for the Jr. Babe Ruth team, & play on our Coastal Plains Elite (CPE) team. This is truly the best of both worlds!
